News from the first LifeType Meeting in London
9. Jul. 2006Day 1
Michael and Reto arrived already at noon at the hotel near victoria station (Comfort Inn). Fish & Chips in the friendly pub 'St. Georges Tavern' just around the corner was del.icio.us. When Oscar arrived later in the evening, we where ready to go downtown and eat out in a nice italian restaurant near Leicester Square and have some beers at the 'Warwick' club.
Day 2
We started the day with a nice breakfast near Piccadilly Circus and planned the "official" meeting where Jon and Mark should Skype in. In the meantime Michael gave a short history of the project - to remember the activities and successes we had in the last year: moving from pLog to LifeType, registering LifeType as a trademark in germany and some articles in the German PHP Magazine.
We hoped to make the conference call from our hotel room, but Murphy's law stroke and the hotels internet connection was down right at that time. That's why we went to a nearby Starbucks with way too loud music (and they strictly refused to turn down the music, although we where almost alone in there).
Nevertheless we had a short talk with our friends overseas and I'm sure mark never heard such an awfully sung happy birthday song. ;)
Day 3
While Oscar went up early, "jogging in the park" ;-) , Michael and Reto enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards the team went to a cafe near Hide Park Corner and gathered all the features and improvements discussed the last days to formulate a nice new roadmap for upcoming versions.
Our first meeting was an entertaining event for all of us, and we will sure meet again! No plans or dates are made for the next meeting, thought. Just keep this blog in your feed reader and you'll be updated as soon as the next meeting date is out!
